Welcome to the Invisible House

What this house is for, what belongs here, and the few rules that keep it.

Welcome. If you are reading this, you have found the door.

The Domus Invisibilis is a house for students of the Western Mystery Tradition. It exists to serve the Light: to share essays and thoughts that help the seeker grow in understanding, in practice and in character. This first letter sets out what we intend to do, what belongs here, and how we ask you to conduct yourself while you are inside.

What we intend

We will publish essays and shorter reflections on the Mysteries, written with care and meant to be studied rather than skimmed. Some will be our own. In time, many will come from other students, because no single mind holds the whole of the Work.

We hold one standard above all others: honesty about what we know. Wherever we can, we look at the tradition through a scientific lens. That means citing sources, separating what a text says from what later readers made of it, saying how old an idea really is, and admitting where the evidence runs out. Personal experience is welcome too, as long as it is offered as experience and not dressed up as proof.

What belongs here

Anything that serves the Light is welcome, in particular:

  • Alchemy, of the laboratory and of the soul
  • White and High Magic: ceremonial magic, theurgy, the work of the Golden Dawn and its heirs
  • Rosicrucianism and the Christian esoteric current
  • Hermeticism and the Qabalah
  • Tarot, astrology and the language of symbols
  • Esoterics in general: its history, its philosophy, and its meeting point with psychology

What does not belong here is anything that leads away from the Light: work aimed at harming, binding or manipulating others, the left hand path, or sensational claims made without grounds.

Send us your work

If you have written something on the Mysteries that deserves to be read, send it to domus-invisibilis@outlook.com.

  • We welcome essays, reflections and notes from practice, of any length, as long as they have substance.
  • Please send original work, and cite your sources wherever you make a claim of fact.
  • Tell us whether you would like to appear under your own name or a name of your choosing.
  • We read everything. We may suggest edits, and not every piece will be published, but every piece will be answered.
  • Your work remains yours. We ask only for permission to publish it here.
  • Please respect your obligations. Do not send material you are bound by oath to keep.

Comments and conversation

Beneath every post there is room for comments, and we hope you will use it. Ask questions, add what you know, and disagree where you think we are wrong. Good discourse is how a tradition stays alive.

But this is not a place for tearing down. We ask four things of everyone who speaks here:

  1. Engage with the ideas, not the person. Anything aimed at the writer or another reader rather than at the content will be deleted.
  2. Give reasons. If you disagree, say why, and point to sources where you can.
  3. Respect other paths. Many roads lead toward the Light. Yours need not be everyone's.
  4. Keep it clean. No promotion, no proselytising, and no material from oath-bound teachings.

We moderate with a light hand but a firm one. Comments that break these rules will be removed without debate.

What comes next

On Sunday 18 October, the house opens its first work: an essay in seven parts on the two names of God in Genesis, Elohim and YHVH, and what they mean for those who work with divine names in practice. A new part will follow every Sunday until 6 December.

If you would like each letter to reach you as it appears, knock on the door below.
